Loading Contact Data from Microsoft Outlook or ACT!

In LandVision™ Commercial and Builder editions you can import your contacts directly into LandVision™ and link to Sites.

Exporting Your Microsoft Outlook® Contacts

Use the Outlook® import/export wizard to export your contacts. Select “Comma Separated Values (Windows)” as the file type to export.

Loading a Contact Data Set:

Data Loader is part of the Browse Layers window. To open the window, click the More Layers button at the bottom of the Legend, as shown to the right.

  1. In the Browse Layers window:

    a. Click Load Data at the bottom of the window.

    b. Click Contact Loader on the menu. The Import Contacts window appears.

    Note: LandVision™ always saves layers created from Contact data in the User folder.

  2. In the Import Contacts window:

    a. Source: Outlook® is the only selection available.

    b. File: Click the Browse button to select the csv file containing your Outlook® Contact data set.

    c. Replace Duplicates: This option is On (checked) by default. When you reload Contact data sets, use this option to append data to the existing layer (data set) and replace duplicate contacts.

    d. Click the Upload button to load your Contact data set into LandVision™

    • The Notification Area in the top right corner of LandVision™ confirms the success of your data load. Click the Notification icon for information about the upload.

    • The Available list on the left of the Browse Layers window displays your new layer.

      Tip: If your new layer is not in the Available list, select another folder from the Folder drop-down menu. Then re-select the User folder.

Exporting Your ACT! Contacts

Requirements: Outlook 2000 or later, ACT!

To import your ACT! contacts into LandVision™, you must first export the contacts into Outlook format and then import the Outlook file into LandVision™.

  1. From Act!, click Export in the File menu.

  2. Click Next Then, select Text Delimited and click the Browse... button.

  3. Change the dropdown in the bottom right to Comma Separated Values (*.csv) rather than Text.

  4. Choose a file name and location to temporarily save your data. We recommend saving to the Desktop for convenience. Click OK.

  5. Click Next Make sure Contact Records is selected at the top and All records is selected at the bottom.

  6. Click Next Make sure Comma is selected at the top and the Field Names checkbox is checked. Click Next.

  7. Click Next and then Finish to complete the export.

  8. From Outlook, click Import and Export in the File menu.

  9. Click Import from another program or file and click Next.

  10. Select the file type Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next.

  11. Use the Browse… button to choose the contacts file location you specified in Step 4. Click Next.

  12. Click to select the Outlook folder to import the contacts into (such as “Contacts”). Click Next and then Finish.

  13. Follow the instructions on exporting Your Microsoft Outlook® Contacts into LandVision™. Visit the Data Loader section and locate Loading Contact Data* from Microsoft® Outlook or ACT!
